Ini makan tipu-la...
Sure he didn't doctor the JCP cert himself? If Master or PhD can be fake, what more a small cert like understanding Java? I got friends who took the JCP as well, some of them also ask me the same question. It's a multiple-choice question, right? So, you can bring your dice in and "tembak"... Just joking. AFAIK, I think when you sit for the JCP, the marks are also known as well, right? I may be wrong. Anyway, having a cert is not a guarantee of quality, it only certifies that you understand Java. Applying what you know is of course a better "certification".
By having fundamental knowledge in Java, one might know HOW to use the static keyword but does not know what is it for as in WHY to use it. Most certification program will aim to cover the certification scope and will not elaborate more on that. I think that those people who takes the trouble to pursue certification could be evaluated as better than the one who does not pursue as it shows that the person has the initiative to prove he can do it.
