Hmmmm... I haven't had the "chance" to experience it though I'm in an outsource resource.
Anyway, it is very demoralizing to find out that this has happened after all the hard work you've put into a project. For management, they're happy because more $$ has been saved and that their other resources can be put to use elsewhere. However, sad to say, sometimes, after this has happened, developers could be left out in the cold and just shelved for storage later. I like what the article has said that, "It also works when you hire an offshore team of senior people who know the business you're in. No, their rates aren't cheap, and don't have to be! But such teams usually consist of professionals, who take pride in their work, deliver on time without putting an extra burden on your own developers, and even mentor your staff." However, what I gathered from other people who have "lost" their jobs to offshore teams is that management doesn't see this, they only see the $$$ saved. |
