So, the poor developer only had from 2pm to 5:30pm to fix the bug? Well, not to split hairs, but that's only 1/2 day left for the developer after the meeting was done.
Anyway, to the PM, it still constitutes as 1day, right?
when i need 1 day, i will alwaz request for 2 days,
when need 2 days, i will request for 3days instead. people will only feel u perform well when u can finish ur thing earlier. and u r just perform moderate if u finish ur thing on time that u promise to.
actually the pressure always come from the higher mgmt and not the PM.
But as a developer, you should not stop as saying just the effort, but complete the sentence by saying if you start by when, you will finish by when. Make it clear up front. No guessing game.
telling the exact amount of time needed (like 1 day or 8 hours) would lead to a guessing game?
