yes, i had similar experience cancelling my AOL account last time when i was in UK, but not to this extreme. and yes, it was hard to get hold of a real person when u call AOL support, they just made u wait so long.
i called to cancel my account bcos the new place i'm moving to has already got its own internet. they did ask a lot of questions (i guess it was their standard procedure), pursuade you a lot and offered me one month free before they finally willing to let me go as a customer.
i had a similar experience cancelling a credit card because I didn't use it.
They asked me a lot of questions and I just simply blurted out, "I'm no longer able to support this credit card, can you please cancel it?"... Anyway, the reason why these people asked so many questions was probably like a "customer satisfaction survey" to help improve their product. Frankly, they should inform the customer if they are ok with answering such survey questions, otherwise, it'll just piss the customer off. There is nothing worse than a disgruntled ex-customer who will blab to their friends about lousy service. |
