Most of the times, understand people by asking questions is difficult. But sometimes, it can be surprisingly easy. For example the job candidate who came in just now has stated in the CV that he's been using eclipse for two projects, but when he was being asked which IDE he ever use, I got the answer "I'm not sure".
Ridiculously, I got an "I'm not sure" for the questions like "jdk version", "j2ee version", "ant version" and so on.
Don't get me wrong, it doesn't mean that he isn't a good programmer, but it doesn mean that he is somewhat not interested in exploring more or even mastering Java (or even programming).
